New Hope for Kenyan ChildrenWe are supporting 60 Kenyan orphans through fundraising and donations in the U.S. These children now have a safe home, food, education and a hope for their future! Our sponsorship program is underway to allow New Hope friends to sponsor our Kenyan orphans in order to ensure their health, food, educational and spiritual needs are being met.
The Security Wall is finished! The steel gate is the finishing touch in the wall that surrounds a quarter of our acreage in Kisumu. Additional huts and community toilets should be completed in July. If all continues as scheduled we will bring all the children and staff from the toxic Dandora slums of Nairobi to the cleaner, safer orphanage location in Kisumu sometime in July/Aug. Terrie has been in Kisumu since mid February overseeing the construction and will move on site as soon as the final work is complete! Moving the children from Nairobi to Kisumu will require transportation funds and new uniforms as they will be attending a new school. The children also need malaria medication, school supplies, and textbooks.
'Slums to Safety' Tri-Tip BBQ and pool party: Our spring event raised the funds for this move from Nairobi to Kisumu. Held on May 23 at the PADI headquarters in Rancho Santa Margarita all our guests enjoyed a wonderful day with beautiful weather. Great raffle prizes, an incredible pool, delicious BBQ tri-tip/chicken and a beautiful venue made it a great day! click here for photos
Mission Trip - July 2008: The Kings are traveling to Kenya in July to visit all our children in Kisumu. They will update the photos and bios of all the children, put on a VBS program for our children and sponsor a community outreach for other children in the area. They will also be networking and partnering with other organizations in the area, and hopefully visiting the medical clinic of Sister Frieda in Kitale.
Maasai Market: Our September event will be a Maasai Market in Carlsbad. We will have Kenyan goods, food and special native crafts created by our children for sale. We will also provide an update on all that our children have accomplished this year and what their plans are for the future. This will be a great time for all!
